Are you living with boring white walls, but hate the thought of painting? Painting is often a task that homeowners dread. However, it is one of the most inexpensive ways to improve the look of your home without too much effort.
Paint colors can dramatically change the mood and interior design of your home. Paint can make a statement with splashes of bold color, or it can be a soft backdrop to a more muted interior. Either way, painting is one of the easiest and least expensive tools in the interior design world. However, there are a few things you should know before you paint.
Prepping the walls and room is key. Changing the color is the last step. All of the work comes before. Moving furniture, cleaning baseboards, masking off trim, patching walls, sanding. All before you can even think about getting out a brush.
There are many pro tips we can offer, but there are 2 that would help insure a great result in your paint job. First is to sand the walls lightly after the first coat of paint and yes I said first, no matter what anyone tells you, it will take 2 coats, A light sand over all the walls surface with get any fuzz or minor imperfections off the wall before the final coat. It will leave you with a very smooth slick finish. Second, when you patch or spackle the wall, you are making a new smooth spot in the wall, if you look at the surrounding wall it has a texture or stemple on it. That is from the roller nap from the previous paint jobs. If you don’t take the time to pre paint those posts 3 or even 4 times with a nice nap roller, you will be able to see those spots in the finish product. We recommend a ¾ nap for most re paint projects.
Good luck, let us know how we can help.
